JCC’s Book Series Lunch & Learn: Songs for the Brokenhearted by Ayelet Tsabari

Come join us at the Ann Arbor JCC for the March Book Series event, a Lunch & Learn with a virtual visit from Ayelet Tsabari, author of Songs for the Brokenhearted. The program will take place on Thursday, March 26, from 12–1:30 p.m. The delicious lunch of kosher food with Yemeni treats will start at noon with the author talk beginning promptly at 12:30 p.m.
Songs for the Brokenhearted tells the story of a Yemeni Jewish mother and daughter and their stories across generations. The main character, Zohara, is a Yemeni Jewish woman living in New York City. Upon the death of her mother, Zohara returns to Israel to be with family. There, she discovers shocking family secrets that force her to reckon with everything she thought she knew about her parents, her heritage, and her future. The novel explores the immigration of Yemeni Jews to Israel in the 1950s, secret love, music, and more through the stories of Zohara and her family.
